Kitchen cleaning during a pandemic
Top Tips
Kitchen cleaning during a pandemic there are lots of do’s and don’ts when it comes to effectively cleaning the kitchen areaespecially during a pandemic. Sensitive stone counter tops like marble and granite can be easy to damage and grease from cooking can find its way into spots that you typically don’t notice. We’ve asked a large number of professional cleaners for the top tips when it comes to kitchen cleaning and here is what we can share.
There are basically two kinds of stains you’ll find on your walls: oil based and waterborne. For the waterborne stains, a wet paper towel or clean rag will do the job. For oily stains (particularly grease), a mixture of dish washing soap and water will cut through most buildup.
Tougher or older grease stains may need a store-bought degreaser to cut through. Make sure to dry the area afterward to prevent further staining. If your stove is underneath a blower or cabinets, be sure to look on the underside to clean this easily overlooked spot.
Oil can seep its way into the corners of the stove as well so make sure to be as thorough as possible; excess oil buildup can be a potential fire hazard.
It’s a dirty job kitchen cleaning it but has to be done regularly; dirt and grime can build in the corners behind your fridge and stove. If left untouched, this dirt can attract unwanted pests like bugs and mice.
You will want to clean behind and under your appliances regularly or at least once every 3 – 4 months. Previously, I was hesitant to move the fridge because I didn’t want to scratch my hardwood floor. I’ve since spoken with the company owner of King of Maids, Filip Boksa, and he gave me a crucial bit of advice: preparation can make things safer and easier.
First, clean the floor in front of your fridge and stove. If your fridge has an ice maker, be sure to turn off the water supply in case the hose is accidentally pulled off.
Dust and grime can cause un-needed friction that could lead to damage. Then carefully lift the appliance on the front side and slide a floor guard under. If you don’t want to purchase a brand name floor guard, you can also use a patch of thick carpeting and plywood.
Rest the front end of the appliance on the plywood, then gently slide the carpet underneath the appliance. You can unplug the appliance once it’s about halfway out. Once you move the appliance all the way out, take care of cleaning the walls and surfaces with water and dish soap. Pay special attention to dust on the fridge’s coils.
Cleaning the inside of the oven and fridge has to be done regularly at least once or twice a month. After cleaning, you can also keep an open box of baking soda inside of your fridge to help absorb the moisture in the air and keep odors to a minimum. For tougher stains in the oven, soak with oven cleaner and let stand for 15 – 20 minutes. Scrub and reapply as necessary.
We recommend the OZONE GENERATOR WITH INTEGRATED DIGITAL PANEL
Ozone is a gas existing in nature composed by three atoms of oxygen. This gas is able to oxidise and destroy viruses, bacteria, spores and mites in a fast, economic and ecological way.
Brentareno has concentrated the major power of the ozone in the new professional and portable sanitizer , the ideal solution for sanitising every space up to 140 square metres. Thanks to the ozone it can reach and sanitise even the most unreachable places.
Houses, offices and business places Dry-cleaners and laundromats Hotels and restaurants Hospitals and nursing homes Gyms Cars Caravans Boats Is portable Is 100% ecological. Doesn’t need labour, doesn’t need chemicals doesn’t leave any chemical trace. Has no contraindications.
Be very careful when cleaning your stone surfaces with water. Keep a dry rag handy so that you can dry off any area you clean quickly. For common stains like coffee or juice, use a mix of hydrogen peroxide and water.
You can add a couple of drops of ammonia to this mix to make it more potent. Granite counter tops are very popular and to keep their finish, you can use a mixture of dish washing detergent and and water.
One teaspoon to four cups of water is recommended. Harsher cleaners like vinegar, acid based solutions or foaming cleaners can actually cause damage to the finish so avoid these on your counter tops if at all possible.
For tougher stains that are harder to remove, professional cleaners recommend a stone poultice or a mixture of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide while kitchen cleaning during a pandemic.
Cover the stain with the cleaning solution and then place some plastic wrap over the area. Let sit for 24 hours and then remove the wrap. Once the mixture is dried completely, wipe away and repeat as needed. This area will need to be resealed after treatment to prevent further staining.
